Princess Anne shocks fans with bold lingerie appearance
Princess Anne celebrates British lingerie craftsmanship during workshop visit.
Princess Anne made a delightful detour from royal tradition on 15 September, stepping into the Edge o’ Beyond lingerie workshop in Caerphilly, South Wales.
As president of the UK Fashion and Textile Association, the Princess Royal put the spotlight on British garment craftsmanship in a setting that was both unexpected and entirely chic: a luxury lingerie studio.
During the visit, Anne unveiled a plaque on one of the brand’s underwear displays, creating a memorable photo opportunity.
Naomi De Haan, founder of Edge o’ Beyond, told The Telegraph that the princess was “very cool, very interested in everything” and came across as “very feminist,” highlighting her keen engagement with the craftsmanship and creativity on display.
She got an up-close look at British craftsmanship where employees demonstrated how they create their jewelry adorned lingerie.
The Princess Royal spoke with machinists and learned about the technical challenges of designing bras in larger sizes, ensuring wires remain strong and supportive, according to The Telegraph.
She also discussed the evolution of corsetry without whalebone and the complexities of promoting lingerie on social media, touching on issues around “censorship of the female body.”
The visit coincided with Edge o’ Beyond’s 11th anniversary, with founder Naomi De Haan sharing her excitement on Instagram.
“Her Royal Highness’s deep understanding of the fashion + textile industry + her genuine curiosity were inspiring for our whole team,” De Haan wrote.
“This visit is recognition of the exceptional skills of our technicians, + a celebration of keeping British lingerie craftsmanship alive,” the founder shared.
An Instagram reel posted on 17 September captured Princess Anne smiling and chatting with De Haan as she toured the workshop.
“A day to remember (with loving emoji),” the luxury lingerie brand captioned the clip.
