Have you ever had such a stressful day that it feels like you are slowly sinking in quick sand? We’ve all had days like this. Life can be hectic, right? It can be even harder to cope when you're feeling unconfident and insecure about yourself. The most important decision you can make in life is to love and accept yourself. Self-love is hard for us because we think loving yourself is an act of selfishness. Well, it’s not! You can’t truly love another individual until you love yourself.
Self- love begins with you surrounding yourself in your own affection and embracing your own self appreciation. Here are five quick tips that can help you love yourself just a little bit more. 

1. Start the day with meditation

Do you check social media as soon as you wake up? Ladies, we are guilty too. Instead of checking your phone straight away, try to take those first few minutes to breathe. Breathe in love, breathe out negativity. Start with five minutes of meditation and focus specifically on your breathing. When you finish, write down your thoughts in a journal. Twitter can wait!

2. Eat well 

The human body is amazing! It can heal, feel, sense, touch, grow and do so many other incredible things. What you eat has such a huge impact on how effectively your body functions. President of the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research Felice Jacka says, “A healthy diet is protective and an unhealthy diet is a risk factor for depression and anxiety.” Remember your body is a temple and your mind a machine. Make sure you are fuelling your body with the right food and you’ll mentally and physically feel better.

3. Define your definition of beauty

The media has a lot of power especially when it comes to defining what beauty really is, and social media has helped to further skew our perception of what is attractive. This can definitely affect your self confidence, especially when you don’t fit into the bracket of what society deems beautiful. Beauty should be self- defined. You decide what you think is beautiful, not what social media says is beautiful. Ladies, love yourselves enough to recognise not only your outward beauty, but the beauty you possess inside you. 4. Practice happiness and gratitude

A great way to do this is with a gratitude jar. At the end of each day, write down something good that happened to you on a piece of paper and then place it in cute storage jar. When you’re feeling low, open your gratitude jar and remind yourself of all the good things that happen on a daily basis. This will help you to celebrate the small wins and remind you to always stay positive.

5. Treat yourself

It is so important to treat yourself once in a while. You work hard, and you definitely deserve it. There are many ways to treat yourself.
