Meet our Muse: Adaora
Hello Adaora! Tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Adaora and I study Classical Civilisation at university because I love ancient history and I love mythology. My favourite books are The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller and The Martian by Andy Weir which are two books that couldn't be more different but somehow both made it to the top of my ranking.
Why do you think it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day?

I think it's important that the world spends time recognising problems that still affect women today all over the world, and bring them forward to try and solve them.
What was your dream job as a little girl?

I cycled through a range of dream jobs from Princess to astronaut to astrophysicist to computer scientist. I eventually decided on writer and I've stuck to wanting jobs like that ever since.
If you could have dinner with 3 women, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

Shirley Chisholm the first Black woman to ever be elected to the US Congress who even ran for president in the 70s; Sappho because most of her poems are in fragments and I would like to write them down, and Janelle Monae because she's a great artist and musician.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to 18 year old you?

I'm 18 now, so I suppose I would tell myself to work on myself and push myself more during lockdown, we should all be trying to better ourselves constantly and just because the world stopped, doesn't mean I should too.
What is a change you would like to see for women in the next generation?

I would like to see more women worldwide getting better educations and the lessening of gender-based crimes against women in the next generation.
Edge o’ Beyond is inspired by you and has a range named after you. Who is a woman that inspires you and why?

Apart from my Mum, I would say cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova the first and youngest woman in space and the only women to do a solo space mission so far and Sally Ride, astronaut and physicist, who was the first American woman to go to space as well as the youngest American to go to space.
What’s your favourite EOB range?

Aside from Adaora, I really like Fatima + Charlotte En Or!
