In Conversation: Women’s Health Month

In Conversation: Women’s Health Month

To accompany our Women’s Health Month gift offering (which you can find out more about here), we spoke to the brands we’ve partnered with to explore their perspectives, from what they wish more women talked about openly, to the myths they would love to see debunked.

The importance of Women’s Health Month + its role in our wellbeing

At Edge o’ Beyond, we know that Women’s Health is important all year round, not just during a dedicated month. However, the occasion feels like a timely reminder to pause + reflect, which is why we decided to launch this campaign + check in with ourselves, both physically + emotionally.

Anamarija, Founder of SXEY, makes an important observation:

“Women's Health Month is a reminder that wellbeing isn't limited to what happens in a doctor's office - it's about how we feel in our own skin, every single day. For SXEY, this campaign matters because intimacy, pleasure and self-connection are fundamental to health, yet they're rarely given space in the conversation. For too long, intimate care has been dominated by products designed to mask or 'fix,' as though our natural selves are something to be corrected. We believe the opposite.”

It is also an opportunity to reflect on the wider injustices still present within women’s healthcare. As the Mooncup team shares, Women’s Health Month is a moment to cut through the noise and focus on what matters:

“We're not here just to make better period products. We're here to disrupt the systems that have failed people with periods for far too long. The gender health gap. Racial disparities in healthcare. Pain that gets dismissed as "just cramps." Symptoms that get shrugged off for years. Women's Health Month shines a spotlight on all of this, so it’s essential we’re part of making it louder than ever.”

Drawing the conversation back to the importance of rest, self care + listening to the body, Kristi, Founder of Hesper Fox, shares:

“So many women are taught to keep going no matter how depleted they feel, and Women’s Health Month creates an important pause to remind us that self-care is not an indulgence, it is a necessity. This month gives us the opportunity to join the wider conversation about how women inhabit and respect their bodies and tune into what they need.”

The power of opening up

We then explored the power of being honest with those around us, especially when it comes to the things many women still feel they cannot say out loud.

On the topic of what we should be sharing about our health + wellbeing, the team at Mooncup put it perfectly:

“All of it! But especially the messy, uncomfortable, ‘wait is that normal?’ stuff. Because when we share our stories, something shifts. The shame lifts. The isolation breaks. And suddenly what felt like a personal problem starts looking a lot like a systemic one. So talk. Overshare. Compare notes with your friends.”

Breaking taboos around Women’s Health is crucial to women’s happiness + quality of life in all its forms, including pleasure and sexual wellbeing.

As Anamarija, Founder of SXEY, shares:

“Pleasure and sensuality are not indulgences - they're part of the same ecosystem as sleep, movement and mental clarity. We'd love to see more open conversations around hormonal health, libido, body confidence and how these naturally shift through different life stages. These topics are incredibly common, yet many women still feel they need to navigate them quietly.”

In recent years, there has been a growing openness around ageing, with more women sharing their experiences + reshaping the narrative. Yet navigating these changes can still feel deeply personal.

Kristi, Founder of Hesper Fox, reflects:

“I wish more women felt able to speak honestly about the fact that our bodies evolve in every decade, and that needing to support ourselves differently is not weakness, it is wisdom.”

Being open with one another can have a profound impact on both our physical + emotional wellbeing, including areas that are still often overlooked, such as libido."

As the Better Menopause team shares:

“It is still one of the last taboos, even among close friends. So many women tell us they feel flat, disconnected, or like they have lost a part of themselves, and they have no idea it is hormonal… And the moment women start talking about it honestly, something shifts.”

Together, these reflections highlight just how powerful openness can be, not only in how we understand our bodies, but in how we support one another.

Challenging the narrative

As conversations become more open, they also create space to question the assumptions + narratives that have shaped our understanding of women’s health.

One assumption that stands out for our team is the societal acceptance that period pain is simply a normal part of being a woman, something to just get on with.

The Mooncup team challenges this myth:

“Painful, heavy periods are not a rite of passage and they're not something you should just push through. Your body is trying to tell you something, and you deserve a doctor who actually listens. Don't settle for a shrug.”

Understanding that there may be something deeper causing pain can be incredibly empowering, and finding a medical professional who listens is an important step in taking control of your health.

There are also a number of organisations working to support this shift, such as the Menstrual Health Project, who provide educational toolkits + resources to help reduce stigma + empower people with knowledge.

This stigma + mindset can also persist as women age. The team at The Better Menopause share a myth they wish they could debunk:

“That the symptoms of perimenopause are just something you push through. Low energy, disrupted sleep, changes in mood and libido - these are not character flaws or signs of weakness. They are hormonal and physiological. And there is real, targeted support available. You don’t just have to get on with it any more.”

Kristi from Hesper Fox reinforces this from a more physiological perspective:

“The beauty and wellness industries have often sold the idea that every line, every softness, every hormonal shift is a problem to be corrected, and that can create a very adversarial relationship with our own reflection.”

She goes on to share a more considered perspective on what this means in practice + how we might begin to shift that narrative for ourselves:

“Ageing is a privilege. It means we are here. It means we have lived, learned, loved, survived and evolved. Of course women want to feel vibrant, healthy and confident; there is nothing wrong with wanting to look after ourselves, but the goal should never be to wage war against time - to look “younger”. The goal should be to feel well and confident in our skin at every stage.”

Reconnecting through lingerie

And finally, we return to the pieces that sit closest to the skin, exploring the role lingerie plays in how we feel in ourselves, and how it moves between function + indulgence in everyday life.

It is also something we see reflected often at Edge o’ Beyond, when customers share a review or tag us wearing our pieces. We know first-hand how much the first layer can influence how we feel, + the quiet impact it can have on both physical + emotional wellbeing.

Reflecting on whether lingerie is for function or indulgence, the Better Menopause team shares:

“Definitely both! The right lingerie can change how you carry yourself. We spend a lot of time thinking about what it means to feel well, and feeling good in your body is a big part of it. The feeling of quiet confidence isn’t indulgent, it’s essential.”

They continue:

“It's not just about support or aesthetics; it's about how it changes your posture, your confidence, your sense of self. The same way a scent can shift your entire mood, the right lingerie is a quiet power move.”

Both responses reflect the level of attention to detail we pour into our own designs at Edge o’ Beyond, where the aim is always to empower women to feel confident in themselves in every piece they wear.

Continuing the conversation, the team at Mooncup share their thoughts on lingerie:

“It’s whatever you want it to be. We're in the business of periods, so we know better than anyone that your body (and your mood) is different every single week. Sometimes you want soft, seamless, just-get-me-through-the-day. Sometimes you want to feel like a goddess. Both are valid. Both are necessary. Go with the flow, always.”

We love this reflection, and it is something we embody within our own collections, offering softer everyday styles like Elly + Casey, alongside more elevated, empowering pieces such as Mina + Nova.

Tying this all back to the impact lingerie can have on how we feel, Kristi from Hesper Fox shares:

“There is also something emotionally transformative about wearing pieces that feel indulgent, luxurious and intentionally chosen. Lingerie is often the very first thing we put on in the morning; it sets the tone for how we carry ourselves, even if nobody else sees it. Especially if no one else sees it! For me, lingerie is not about dressing for someone else.”

Curated favourites

As a final note, we asked which Edge o’ Beyond collections they were most drawn to + a clear thread ran through the answers: confidence, softness + striking detail.

Kristi from Hesper Fox was drawn to Ally for its balance of strength + femininity:

“The Ally range has to be my favourite! There is something so striking about its interplay between strength and pure femininity — the structured lines give it a sense of confidence and power, while the delicacy of the detailing keeps it undeniably soft and sensual.”

The Better Menopause team were equally taken with Charlotte Ciel:

“The Charlotte Ciel collection is our current favourite. The blue rose embroidery on sheer mesh and the gold hardware work beautifully together. It feels feminine and powerful in equal measure, which is exactly the energy we are here for.”

The Mooncup team also agreed, drawn to the same collection for a slightly different reason:

“Charlotte Ciel - no contest. That little pop of Mooncup blue? It feels like it was made for us.”

Anamarija, Founder of SXEY, was especially drawn to our classic Charlotte:

“The Charlotte range. It's the perfect bridge between our two brands - delicate enough to feel personal, but with enough architectural detail to command attention. The embroidery and strapping feel like lace armour: beautiful, intentional, and designed for the woman wearing it, not just the room she's in.”

What unites these choices is a shared appreciation for detail + the way lingerie can shape how we feel in ourselves.

Ultimately, women’s health, in all its forms, is still a conversation for us at EOB + beyond, one that lives in everyday life, from what we share + what we choose to wear closest to the skin.
